HORIBA LA-950

The LA-950 is used for a great variety of applications - from particle charactarization of powders and granules to the measurement of suspensions and emulsions. It can be ordered in different configurations for

• Dry measurement
• Wet measurement
• Combination of dry and wet measurement

Depending on the configuration, it is equipped with a dry feeder unit and/or a flow cell with an efficient circulation system.

The LA-950 is supplied with an intuitive control and evaluation software in three languages (German, English, French).

The use of the PowderJet Dry Feeder is recommended for many different sample types within a measuring range of 0.1 µm – 3,000 µm. In the PowderJet, the sample is fed directly downward from the feeder, moving just a few inches in free fall to the nozzle. This approach prevents powder build-up, clogging and the inconsistent rate of feed normally experienced in systems that use tubing to transport powder horizontally and upward to the sensing zones. The Horiba technique also simplifies cleaning between samples and, as an enclosed system, prevents sample material from escaping.

Fraction cell for measurement of small sample amounts with a total volume of only 8-15 ml and/or precious sample materials or samples containing volatile solvents.

The AutoSampler is a 24-position carousel-type system, with each sample cup being completely added to the analysis system. Adding automation acessories provides all the advantages of continuous, unattended operation including reduced labor costs, elimination of human error, and exceptionally reliable, repeatable measurements.

The SlurrySampler mixes the sample, withdrawing the appropriate amount of sample for measurement, mixing and diluting as necessary. This system is a robotic-arm sampling system that can accommodate up to 60 samples.

The Paste cell is ideal for magnetic samples or materials that flocculate easily.

For fast and convenient measurements of small sample amount, Retsch Technology now offers a MiniFlow unit, that allows for automated sample preparation. It is a complete circulation and dispersion system for 35 to 55 ml of liquid. The required sample thus amounts to, depending on particle size and density, only 0.02 to 1 g. The MiniFlow unit consists of a dispersing bath, an ultrasonic sensor, a circulation system and a measuring cell. Filling and cleaning of the unit is automated.

1 litre volume circulation system to increase sampling amount for wider size distribution material measurement or for better statistical representation of large size samples.

For applications with dispersions in organic solvents a special solvent resistant circulation system made of teflon and viton components is available.
