The LA-950 operates on the basis of static laser light scattering (acc. ISO 13320) and was developed as a solution to customer requirements for a high-performance, flexible, and easy to use instrument for a wide variety of applications - from particle charactarization of powders and granules to the measuring of suspensions and emulsions. It can be ordered in different configurations for
catalysts, ceramics, chemical-mechanical polishing, cosmetics, foodstuffs, metal powders, nano-coatings, pigments, research & development for nano-particles, ...

The good results for measurements in the sub-micron range are mainly based on the fact that with very fine particles the strong, blue LED light source ensures a clear signal with large scattering angles. These signals are recorded by the innovative 4-channel detectors with increased sensitivity and an extremely high reading frequency of 5,000 values per second. This makes it possible to measure many new materials in the nanometre range which up to now required other methods such as photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). This is a clear advantage for the user because the analytical performance in combination with a wide measuring range can, in certain circumstances, save the expenditure for a further particle analyser.
