Quality control of recycled glass

Particle shape analysis of glass beads
Glass can be melted and processed to new products over and over again. The use of recycled glass reduces the energy requirement because it has a lower melting point than the raw materials which are necessary for glass production. Therefore, glass recycling leads to a substantial reduction of the pollution that goes along with the melting process (e.g. CO2 emissions) and it helps to save space for landfills. In addition, less raw materials such as limestone and silica sand are needed which in turn reduces the environmental impact of the production process.
